VPS decision checklist

Measure the real route

Ask where your broker’s trading server is located, then measure latency from the candidate VPS. Geographic distance alone is not enough because network routing matters.

Size the workload

Count terminals, charts, indicators, EAs/cBots and any supporting software. CPU and RAM requirements can rise sharply when multiple terminals run simultaneously.

Plan for failure

Review backup, snapshot, restart, uptime and support procedures. A VPS reduces dependence on your home computer but does not eliminate provider or network outages.

Secure remote access

Use strong unique credentials, operating-system updates and the provider’s available security controls. Trading credentials stored on a remote machine deserve the same care as any financial system.

Do not buy a VPS only for a marketing latency number

A provider can advertise a low test latency to one server while your broker route is different. The meaningful measurement is from the actual VPS location to the actual broker or exchange endpoint you use, under normal and stressed conditions.

A nearby data centre is not automatically the lowest-latency choice. Test the actual network path to the broker or exchange endpoint.

Research essentials

ESTVELO comparisons are designed to expose trade-offs, not manufacture a universal winner.

Compare like with likeUse the same jurisdiction, plan/account level and current product version when comparing two providers.
Separate facts from preferencesRegulation, documented features and published terms are factual dimensions; workflow preference depends on the user.
Check the current priceSubscriptions, broker pricing and evaluation fees can change after a page is reviewed.
Avoid single-metric decisionsA lower spread, larger feature list or lower latency claim can hide other costs or constraints.
